A shared expense tracker that updates live
A shared expense tracker has one job that matters more than any chart: when one person records something, the other person sees it now. Happy Dad is built around that live sync, and everything else, the budgets, the overview, the exports, sits on top of it.
How an expense travels
- You tap a category, type an amount and an optional note, and tap Add.
- The expense is saved to the shared household and stamped with your name.
- Your partner's phone updates on its own, and they get a push notification.
What you can see afterwards
- A full feed of expenses for the month, newest first, with who added each one.
- A daily chart and a list of your biggest spending days, tappable for the detail.
- A category breakdown showing spend against budget.
- A Partners tab showing each person's total and share.
Getting data out
Happy Dad+ adds an export of the selected month to a spreadsheet file, with one row per expense: date, time, day of week, item, category, amount, person and more. The same data powers the web dashboard, where you can filter by person, category and weekday and see trends and a forecast.
Pricing
Tracking and sharing are free. Happy Dad+ is $1.99 per month or $19.99 per year, with a one-month free trial, and is optional.
Not a bill-splitter
It records and shows spending. It does not calculate debts or send payment requests. It also never touches your bank, and it runs on iPhone only for now.
Questions
How fast does an expense show up on the other phone?
It appears live without a refresh, and the other person also receives a push notification.
Can I export my expenses?
Yes, with Happy Dad+. Monthly exports go to a spreadsheet file with one row per expense.
Does the tracker work offline?
Adding and syncing expenses needs an internet connection, because the budget is shared through the cloud.
