Privacy Policy

Happy Dad ("we," "our," or "the app") is a shared household budgeting app. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

1. Data We Collect

• Account information: Email address and password (used for authentication via Supabase Auth).
• Household data: Household names, budget categories, expense amounts, expense descriptions, and dates you enter into the app.
• Profile photo: If you upload a profile picture, it is stored in our cloud storage.
• Push notification tokens: If you enable notifications, we store your device push token to deliver expense alerts.

2. How We Use Your Data

• To authenticate you and keep your account secure.
• To store and sync your household budget data across devices and with your household members.
• To send push notifications about new expenses added by household members.

3. Data Sharing

Your budget data is shared only with members of your household (people you invite or whose invitation you accept). We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.

4. Third-Party Services

• Supabase: We use Supabase for authentication, database, and file storage. Supabase processes data in accordance with their privacy policy.
• Expo: We use Expo's push notification service to deliver notifications. Expo processes push tokens in accordance with their privacy policy.

5. Account Deletion and Data Retention

Your data is retained as long as your account is active. You can permanently delete your account at any time from inside the app: open the Household tab and tap Delete Account. No email or support request is required, and deletion is immediate and permanent.

Deleting your account removes your login, your profile photo, your push notification tokens, and any invitations you sent or received.

What happens to your budget data depends on whether you share a household:

• If you are the only member of your household, the household is deleted along with all of its categories and expenses.
• If you share a household with someone else, the household and its expense history remain for the other member, including expenses you added. This is so their budget totals and records are not changed by your leaving. Those expenses are no longer linked to you or to any account, and they no longer display your name or photo. If you were the household owner, ownership passes to the longest-standing remaining member.

6. Security

All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Database access is controlled by row-level security policies ensuring users can only access data within their own household.

7. Children's Privacy

Happy Dad is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

8. Your Rights

You may delete your account and personal data at any time directly in the app, without contacting us -- see Account Deletion and Data Retention above. You may also request access to or correction of your personal data by contacting us at the email below.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
